Only a few animated character deaths have shaken me in my life, and weirdly enough some of them were robots! It's no secret how I feel about Optimus Prime's death, but before he, as a little boy I cried when Mazinger-Z was destroyed, only to have the punk-ass Great Mazinger come out and replace him. Maes Hughes was another recent one that choked me up (in the first anime, the second one kinda rushed his character and thus his death didn't hold the impact it should have). And even though I didn't cry when Kittan died, the sheer BAD-ASSITUDE and awe inspiring size of his balls when he makes that final sacrifice just overwhelmed me, especially considering it came from a second string character in the show. I should be so lucky as to create such a bad ass way for one of my characters to die, and to say Gurren Lagann was a BANANAS FUCKING SHOW would be an understatement of insulting proportions.
This is the last print I'll make for Metrocon this coming weekend, so if you wanna get your hands on a signed copy of this baby, get your asses up there!!!!
Agreed, Kittan's death was epic, the perfect warrior's sacrifice
I also cried when Optimus Prime died, no character death since then except the death of Beast Wars Dinobot affected me as strongly as his did when I was a kid, totally caught me off guard
And I agree that while Fullmetal Brotherhood is more accurate with the manga than the first FMA anime, that Hughes death in that version was a bigger shock to the system as it were.
This is MANLY!!!
Nice work!
